Qualifications:
Community member or Certified staff member strongly preferred. Strong previous coaching and program management experience preferred. Current Teaching Certification or WIAA Coaching Standards desired. Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within District’s time frame. Class I and II bus/van driver’s license endorsements or ability to obtain within District’s time frame preferred. (Certification and required documents are to be presented prior to employment.) Solid verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to inspire students to pursue both academics and athletics to better themselves. Demonstrated excellence as both an educator and as a coach in leading an athletic program in a comparable setting. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with middle and/or high school age athletes, coaching staff, parents and the community. Ability to work closely with Building Staff.
Responsibilities: Develop and carry out the organizational plan for the activity; provide appropriate leadership. Have knowledge of current applicable school and WIAA rules and regulations. Properly train athletes for a safe and successful athletic experience. Maintain athlete’s compliance with school and league eligibility rules. Maintain communication with fellow coaches regarding the sports program. Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students. Maintain and procure equipment. Work within budget. Head coach will provide input on evaluation of coaching staff performance. Work to develop total athletes, educationally and athletically. Work cooperatively with staff members and communicate regularly with the Building Administrator. Work to maintain the safety of program participants. Maintain communication with program participants and parents. Display appropriate behavior and speech. |
